Hot Tamales in Rio Rancho

I've said it before and I'll say it again..good people, great food! My visit today was no exception. I invited a work buddy and he too thought the same. Good balance of ingredients with decent potions made these two " "bug" big guys satisfied!

This place always seems busy, especially at dinner. This is why I first tried it. It's good. The quality is consistent. What I really like is that I can get take away quickly if I don't want to cook at home. The longest my food had ever taken was 5 minutes.I'm a fan of the shredded beef tacos. I didn't like the take away guacamole. There was lettuce at the bottom of the container, and it seemed about half the size of the guac in the restaurant. It also came with too many chips. I've tried a few things on the menu, and I haven't been disappointed. I wish they had flautas.

After living here 15 years I finally had Hot Tamales. I'am blown away with the quality of the food. This is my favorite restaurant. Thank you for excellent food

Great food never expected a take out would be so good

Our 1st time having stuffed sopas and they were so good! It even came with 2 regular sopapillas on the side. Neither one of us could finish our meal. Everyone was really nice but the parking was scarce. We had to park across the street and walk but only had to wait a few minutes (<10) for a table.

Local owners. Casual space. Great sopapillas. Consistently delicious chile. Good traditional plates with daily specials to mix it up. Sometimes there's a short wait for parking because it's a popular place, but worth it.

Their green chili stew took me back to my Abuelita's kitchen table. The flavors were so distinctive. The green chili had just enough kick to warm the belly. I'm definitely going back!

The food and service are excellent. The staff is friendly. It's a great place to eat.

This might be my new favorite Mexican restaurant. I almost dropped a star because we had an unusually long wait, even for a family of seven, but the food was really that good. I loved the stuffed sopapillas! The service was great, too, and they even gave me a military discount! Awesome!

Very good food Witcher seemed a little rushed even though there was practically no one there all that aside the food made up for it only weird thing was no chimichanga on the menu 🤣

The food was excellent. My companion and I botj thought our meals were really tasty. I had the chicken enchilada casserole. Really great. And the value was excellent as well when you look at the quality of food and the really reasonable prices. They don't have alcohol on the menu which didn't matter to us, but I know some people like a cocktail or beer with dinner. I would not pass this place up for that reason though. Service was excellent as well and very fast. I would highly recommend this restaurant the next time you are in Albuquerque.

Great local Mexican food restaurant. Everything is delicious. I love the posole here. The tamales are great and so is the chile relleno. During the holidays you can order tamales for your parties. I suggest ordering ahead of time since they do get really busy. The staff are very friendly and helpful with questions about the menu.

I absolutely love Hot Tamales! I definitely recommend the Green Chile Chicken Casserole, the fajita salad, and the calabicita soup bowl! They also have my favorite sopapillas which are almost always cooked well, fluffy, and not greasy. They always have consistent and good service as well.

Hot, fresh, delicious, quick..... What more could you ask for? Authentic New Mexican food, I've been there several times and never had a bad experience. I just wish they sold alcohol but either way amazing food!

Hands down my all time favorite ❤️❤️❤️😉❤️ place to eat. I pick Hot Tamales over anything anytime given an option to. They food is fanamanil and the staff is amazingly awesome. I LOVE this restaurant 😍💙❤️😍!!!!

Hot Tamales is my favorite Mexican food restaurant. It has ample parking close to tbe front door. The Restaurant is clean and that means as much as good food is in my opinion.The decorations are clean and fresh with traditional earth tone accents.There are tables and booths for your choosing. The booths are large and look new with no worn spots or saging bench seats. My server was Samantha and she did an outstanding job of taking care of me and all of the other customers she was assigned. I asked for extra Salsa and within a minute or two she brought it to my table. She did not forget or decide that it was not a priority for her.My food, the Green Chili Enchilada casserole came very soon after my order was placed. It was hot and looked delicious.Give Hot Tamales a try if you haven't already done so, you will be impressed with good food and good service.Thank you Samantha for your high work ethic and for making my meal a pleasant experience

WOW! What a fantastic place. We truly enjoyed our meal here and can't say enough about it. Everything about it was wonderful. There were four of us and we all had something different and it was all fantastic.

We stopped by hot tamales last night for dinner, and were happy that even though they were crazy busy, they had a table for us. We both got huevos rancheros and they were SO GOOD!!! Carlos was our server and he took very good care of us. He kept our drinks refilled and made sure everything was to our liking. We also saw a table nearby who ordered the Navajo taco that looked AMAZING!!! We will be back to tackle that taco!!

I really enjoy the food here. The servers are attentive and keep the drinks filled. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food.

Food is authentic, hot, & delicious! The atmosphere is nice and very clean. The service is excellent, especially Carlos! Made our trip from California worth the stop.

Love the food and the staff. I am so happy to have good New Mexican food in Rio Rancho. The stacked enchilada's is my favorite with posole. I only wish the portions were a bit bigger because it is so delicious.

Delicious food, had the ham and cheese omelette with potatoes and an English muffin. The ratio of cheese to egg was perfect, the potatoes were crispy but not oily. Would definitely recommend when we are allowed to eat in again.

My family and I have been dining here for many years. We've never had a bad dining experience. However, during our most recent visit this past Saturday, the salsa looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for a few hours. This has not been an issue in any of our past dining experiences. The portions are generous for the prices, and the main courses have always been delicious. Their children's menu is good, as is the coffee. What makes this place truly stand out is the exceptional customer service. This restaurant has the kindest, most courteous staff we've experienced in the Albuquerque area.

Very funky Mexican restaurant, very cool inside compared to outside. Love the colorful decor and the atmosphere. Friendly efficient and respectful staff, allowed us time to talk and read the menu - No pressure. Food is well presented. Menu has interesting dishes - must try the sopaippillas, too too spicy. Lots of car park, popular & clean place. Affordable.

So disappointed in the food today. I order 4 meals for the family and when we got home to eat had to throw away a whole Indian Taco and all the beans out. Why you ask? Because they tasted and smelled like cigarettes. Not sure why or what happened but I'm very disappointed. Update: I called Hot Tamales today and my complaint was handled with great professionalism and in a timely manner. Thank you Hot Tamales for you timely response in this matter. I will still be recommending Hot Tamales in the future.

The salsa tasted weird. Was vinegary or something. My friend found a very long hair in her food. Grossed me out so bad I couldn't eat my meal. It was so disgusting that I will never go back and will warn everyone about the experience. I will never recommend this place to anyone. Food is not authentic Mexican or New Mexican food. Tasted frozen at best. So disappointed. Go to Sadie's or El Pinto.

Wonderful food and atmosphere. Usually always consistent. Our family have been coming here for many years. Ever since they first opened. So nice to have a local New Mexican Food Restaurant. Wonderful flavor of green chile. Salsa is good but, the chips are awesome. We ordered from mytown2go tonight for a delivery. We gave special instructions and every special instructions were met. All of our dinner was prepared and delivered just perfectly. We would recommend Hot Tamales, any day.

Can’t get enough! Found this place by accident and had the green chile enchilada casserole with chicken and a side of calibicitas. They were both wonderful, spicy and flavorful.

This evening I had the pleasure of dining with three born and raised New Mexicans who said that Hot Tamales is their favorite authentic restaurant for New Mexico cuisine. The selection was large without being overwhelming. I took their suggestion and had the stacked tamales with fried egg on top, red, not green. The red chilli was spicy, and lingering but tolerable and pleasant. The sopapilla was warm and delicious. I will be returning to sample additional items.

I'm from Cali where the Mexican food is authentic almost everywhere you go. Based on reviews, I gave this place a shot. I ordered the combo that included the taco, cheese enchilada and chile relleno. I judge Mexican restaurants chefs based on how well they know how to make chile rellenos. This one tasted like it was manufactured by taco bell. No authentic taste at all. Tasted as tho the batter wasn't made the right way.. no airy texture, just dense. And the sauce was hot.. which would be fine if it was seasoned . It just didn't taste authentic at all! I couldn't finish it. It was horrible! The taco and enchiladas were also very generic in taste.

My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for over a decade. I don't know how they do it but the food is always consistently delicious and well presented. Staff are well trained and kitchen is quick. MUST GO NM RESTAURANT.

Food was great! Service was a bit slow. Had to wait for our coffee and they almost forgot my husbands eggs. But the food was great.

I waited in the parking lot less than 10 min. For a family of four. Wow I thought! Got home & Our food was just thrown together! Poorley executed 😒 Owner, pleaser make sure your employees do thier best! I know our world is crazy right now but We still expect to get some decent dinner! I even gave a $10 tip but wouldn't of had I known!My name is Barbara & we were there at around 6:15 pm tonight.

Excellent food and service! This place was recommended by some locals to us. It was certainly a very good experience! We Will return again for sure!
